PLS HELP ASAP!! Quick Question on Bronzoil Shifter Bushings
I bought my bronzoil bushings a while back. I'm installing my B&M STS right now, and all the instructions seem to say that I need only two of these bushings. They sent me four of them. Am I missing something in the install directions, or do I just have an extra set? I hope Gro doesn't mind my using his picture, but I have 4 of the bushing in the center of this pic: http://www.projectmazda.com/howto/shift ... _thumb.jpg

normally when installing a shifter. only 2 bushings are involved. the ones that link the shifter to the extension arm (not sure if it's how it's called). Maybe you got the ones for the extension rod where it bolts to the tranny. I'm just guessing here. But one thing for sure you only need 2 bushings for the shifter install

That's exactly what I thought. An extension rod busing is different from the shifter bushing. (I need to buy one for my E.R. too) I guess I was sent two sets Thanks, Corksport! Guess that makes up for their taking over 3 months to send me my order.

the bronzoil bushings go on the shifter and the tranny at the other end of the bar that bolts to the shifter

Its called the shift or controlrod.. and there is supposed to be four bushings in a set..
The point of the bushings is to replace the worn/soft Oem bushings with some better to get less play..
So you change both the two bushings at the end of the shifter and the other two at the other end on the controlrod

Thanks, PR; that helped. Maniac, I got mine from CorkSport. http://www.corksport.com They were $34. On their site search "bronze oil" and it'll come right up. I think SRD performance has them too; they were the first.

according to the FSM the proper term for that rod is the "shift control rod" while the otehr rod that holds up teh whole assembly is the "extension rod".
The shift control rod is what the shifter bolts to. There are 6 bushings total, 2 at the shifter lever, 2 at the transmission and two that aren't possibly to get out without drilling/cutting near the transmission end.
