B6T 1/4 Mile Times?

Post by phredren »

Just wondering what 1/4 mile times you guys are getting with your B6T powered MX3s? My B6T powered car has gone 13.3 @ 102mph, with a 1.9 second 60' and a basic modded B6T (filter, exhaust, not fuel tuning though).

Thats were Shay and I have had our B6T's...you can push them into the 12's. Watch for mine this summer at the various NOPI races especially Dinwiddie, VA. I'm gonna play nice for a run or two....then bump the boost and break out on purpose. 13psi will make 300+WHP.....check out my link to cardomain for a comparrison of the VJ-14 next to my new Garrett "R" Series turbo.

i went 13.9 @ 101 with my old B6T. that was only running 13psi though on the stock vj-14, with a 2.3 60', and it was during the summer...
those motors are extremely potent if you tune them well and treat them right.
JWMotorsports is some one to look out for though. I have seen first hand the size of that turbo and know how much hard work is going into that car. If the drive train holds together i give him till the end of the 05 season before he's in the mid/low 11's if not in the 10 second range.

Yeah...Shay has the slips to prove it. He went 13.80ish on 13psi. I was trying to get him to spray the IC chiller all the way down the track, but he wouldn't. 16psi with the chill would have put the car in the 12's.

Remember this......tuning and efficiency w/ traction is what makes a car fast. Not just a big PEAK HP number. You get more power from advancing the timing 1 degree than turning the boost up 1 psi (in most cases). However there is a happy median for every thing.

Yeah if you have the engine bolted into a 1900lb Festiva like I do.

Shay and I had full exhast mods, even port and polished our turbo manifolds and down pipes. I ported the PISS out of them! It made a good bit of differance. Then you have to have a good IC, you can pick up a lot of power here....especially compared to the junkyard IC's (they work...but why do you think they are in the junkyard...LOL). Next you need to tune the car to around 12.5:1 AFR w/ 1400*F EGT's under wide open throttle. This will allow you to run more timing advance and boost. I had my A/F Gauge reading about 3 bars Green under WOT. The timing was advanced so far I had to add a little more fuel at around 5000 RPM all the way up to Red Line for 5th gear to get ride of a little spark knock. If that wouldn't have done it I would have had to turn the timing back a hair. If I remember right, Shay was running the stock B6T cams when he went to the track and pulled 13.8'ish @ 13psi. The Web Cams made a BIG differance according to Shay.
