Shell Optimax

Post by MikeUK »

Has any one ever fulled with this stuff.

I decided to give Mr TESCOs pump a break and filled up thinking SHELL OPTIMAX was one of the best fules out there. Problems; my car diddnt idle, every time I stopped and the car idled the reves would go a little insane up n down and then over rev then drop and stall.

I filled the tank up with this crap and it played hell with me. Thank god its now out. Sorry Mr Tesco im coming back.

A few friends have also had similar problems with the fuel. But never so bad as it stalled, just rough idling. I used this stuff in my old clio and it never gave a problem.

I've filled my V6 up with it many times and never had any problems, cant say it runs any better though. I fill my Ducati with it when ever possible, as it runs smother on Optimax and tends to stall less.

Used to use it all the time. Seem to have a bit more poke under hard acceleration. Don`t use it now as live next door to tesco so easier to fill up there.

that's all i fill my car up with! whenever i fill up with different it seems to be not as fast under hard accelration. but then again different conditions etc. and there may be some psycological factor for me thinkin it makes the car a little faster who knows.

but i have never had any problems with it. and the car definately seems to run smoother

I used to fill up at the local safeway untill i gave optimax a go, it beats the pants off any other i've tried and it's better than the other optimax style brands, esso, Bp e.t.c.

Also once there is only 1/4 of a tank mine seems to really fly. I know weight is playing a major part in this but it sounds better too. have you tried any engine flush or stuff to clean all the nasty deposits out? It was described to me that decent fule (optimax) kind of cleand up after its self on the way through the engine, standard fule's leave more deposits behind. Also a mate of mine he was of the opinion that you should alway use the same fule. He only fills up with BP and if he can at the same pump, as he thinks this is good for the engine. I think he is talking out of his hole but hey just thought i would throw that in :freak:

I would recomend to any one with a "Nice" car / Bike to give it a go. I think it is the mutts nuts :2thumbsup:

Yea Ive heard using the same petrol is better, but not to sure why.

Iv used shell optimax again and Iv had no problems with it. Spoke to the guy behind the counter and he said, a few people got it a while back and that sometimes they get a bit of bad fuel, but its really rear.

Back on optimax :2thumbsup:
