stock mx headlight with aftermarket HID

Post by Coykiam »

does anyone have HIDs on a stock MX headlight housing ? I know you can only have low beams because of the 9004 limitation. If you have them, how was the lighting ?

Yah agree with Taras, besides if you don't have the glass headlight, forget about even thinking about getting them. (melt, melt, melt)

Plastic headlights will not melt from HID in the headlight as HID runs cooler than stock halogen bulbs, it's only 35w. YOur plastic headlights will melt if you put significantly higher wattage bulb in, for example a 100/130w one. But your stock wiring will melt first probably anyway.

You will just have to sort through them. Usually, threads that have more than a few replies have some interesting content in them for and against HID's in stock housings. PLease also check the links that have been posted. If you still have questions after reading all what you find, come back and we will be more than happy to try to answer.
