Ok, so in the next month or so I'm going to be buying some nice fog lights and putting them in my car.
I have a stock bumper and I don't want to put them in front of my nice mesh grill. So I though about cutting some holes in the lower bumper and mounting them recessed, so that they look like part of the bumper.
I've put in a couple pics to show what I am thinking. Tell me what you think. (I haven't decided exactly what lights..thinking PIAA, and I don't know about rectangle or round yet)

Fog Light install
Re: Fog Light install
I'd go for round, about 80mm (3"). Have a look at my link below for pics of the OEM fogs.

Re: Fog Light install
Yeah. But I am looking to mold them into the bumper all the way, not just put in a recess. if I get black casing ones I can make it look like smooth bumper with light rather than hole with light mounted in it.
Re: Fog Light install
Gotcha. I still think round or oval, probably oval is the way to go. Not too big then, keep them small as possible. You'll also need to consider the ability to adjust the beams without the housings moving. Might limit what lights you can use.
Good luck with it!

Re: Fog Light install
Yeah be careful which ones you get, If you want fogs, make sure you do not end up with driving lights (high beams). Sometimes retailers intermix them. I would be checking the beam patterns to compare to what is out there and what you want.
Re: Fog Light install
yeah I spent some time reading the lighting regs about all of it. definately getting proper fogs.
I'm not gonna cheap out. I'm thinking of proper PIAA or Hella (thinking the PIAA 50s or the Hella Micro DEs) foglights. not the richmond cheapies.

Re: Fog Light install
Hella Micro DE fog lights are considered one of the best in a small class of foglights. Apparently, the output is amazing. They are projector based too. Hella uses them in a lot of OE Volkswagens and BMW's and I am sure others.
