H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
Ordering my civic projectors next week and am wondering if an H.I.D. kit can be put into these projectors. I would rather have an H.I.D. lighting system than only the projectors. Any response appreciated.

What bulbs do Civic projectors use?
Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
The ones available in Australia have 2 x 55 watt H1 type lamps in each headlight.
*** As it turns out these are H3 bulbs

Please do tell. Anyone else that can confirm what bulbs Civic projectors use?
Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
Funny so many raving people with Civic prijectors and no one has ever posted beam pattern pictures or any technical info on the units.... ;(
Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
I suspect the output quality may be less important than the contemporary look of the projectors. That would go a long way to explaining it.
I know I'm looking at the projectors for that reason as I'm more than happy with the output of the OEM headlights, which seems to be at odds with the general feedback I read.

You are probably right Grants. But also remember that in North America we do not use H4 based lamps in Mx-3. We use the 9004 that the rest of the modern world does not see and for a good reason.
Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
I've never heard of the 9004 so can't comment on it. Sounds like I'm lucky!
Can the H4 be fitted to your headlights? Sounds like it might be worth trying. I only ask because I've no complaints with the quality of the OEM output - its a lot better than most cars on the road. I fitted the +50 bulbs and noticed even more improvement.

Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
Grants, I've had a set of J-spec H4 Mx-3 headlights with Philips +50 bulbs. They were great. You can only replace the whole headlight assy with H4 based, but an H4 bulb in a north american 9004 housing will not work.

ok so we have it down to H1 lol. So can I get an HID kit or what do I need to do to get HID lights into my projectors. They should be here later this week I hope.
Re: H.I.D. conversion into civic projectors
Hey,
It's really hard to say what you need to run HID's in your projectors without seeing the output pattern of the projectors. If the cutoff is adequate you might be able to get away w/ a conversion kit, tho since you got the mounting for projectors anyways retrofitting could be the way to go.
So do everyone on the list a favor and snag some technical pics of the civic projectors
cheers,
eugene
