Lights lights lights

Post by Grants »

Hi there anyone, I bought a Eunos 30X which you probably know better as an MX3. Best car I've ever owned and thats a fact.
The car is almost timeless as NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT IS! What the glaring things I need to do to make it "contemporary" is change the headlights (major, they date the car) and change the tail-lights.
The tail-lights seem easy, you guys in the US / Canada have a lot more access to parts than we do. ebay (US) seem to have them available all the time. I'll go there for them. Carbon, clear or black? I haven't seen any fitted (except in photos) as I can't find one MX3 not stock. Hey, help me here please?!
Headlights? I see the talk "projectors", "clear lenses" sanding, etc. I'd like some info as a dummy on what this all means as I wanna try and get any changes right the first time (I can't get it wrong if I modify my existing lights as THERE IS NO OTHERS AVAILABLE here!).
After that I'd like the KLZE upgrade, reckon I'd be the only one in Australia with that!!!

Hey sounds like mx3 market's really small in Australia :)

A good starting point to learn about lights is Herma's FAQ. This page in paticular should bring you upto speed with different types of lights and why we want projectors and why we need to sand or transplate to make the front lens clear.

Cheers,

E

Thanks for that.

Looks good! I'll see if he has got any local contacts. Looks by the rego he's in Queensland which isn't far compared to you guys. To give you an idea how hard parts are to get here, I went to an auto shop (Autopro) the other day for a set of leads, the guy had heard of a Eunos but didn't know how to spell it when he went to look up his computer database.

Haven't got any pics of mine yet, it's pretty stock. After looking at Pipe's, I don't think I'll take any!

Gregory, looking at your car makes me feel the same! That should put a rocket up me to start a few changes. Like the headlights, best I've seen. Well done.

@Dennis

Don't ship them from the states, just go to your Mazda dealership. The Mazda 6 side markers fit just fine (and look better). This is not the best pic in the world, but it shows what I mean:
