I think someone have posted solution to this problem. You might want check previous posts, it was quite a lengthy one not so long ago. Or do search. Sorry, I can't remember the solution. I think it was something to do with dimmer for the stereo lights that was wired to the dash lights dimmer. Good luck.

Are your parking lights on the outside working when you turn them on?

If they aren't, your fuse is blown, there is a short in the circuit (most likely, your dimmer wire from your radio is touching a ground)

Try plugging the stock stereo back in, and see if that works. Otherwise double check every wire going to the radio. I've seen guys hook up the dimmer wire to the switched input of the stereo, and a whole bunch of weird things start happenning. ALWAYS USE A MULTIMETER!!!

If that doesn't help, go to a dealer - or check the wiring diagrams for the vehicle in a hanes manual.

Good luck

Lemme try this again...this is my wrongful post from earlier.

==============================================

Here's the thread on this a while back...
http://www.mx-3.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=38;t=000067

Don't think they had an actual conclusion. Many prople had problems with dimmer wire on aftermarket head units. Worst comes worst things should go back to normal with the (dimmer) wire disconnected and dangling.

Check the audio system info on mx-3.com for diagrams. Don't forget to check the BTN fuse under the hood too.

That's all I can' think off for now...hard to brainstorm now with the manuals offline

Let us know,

All you need to do is connect your ground from your stereo somewhere else. Not to the adapter plug. Do this, and your lights will come back on.

I have checked EVERYTHING and the lights for the gauges still won't come on. It may be that a wire has burned out or something. Thanks for everyone's help.

Check your tail-lights! you may be okay without your dashlights working, but your tail-lights run off the same wiring, so they probably aren't working either, which is probably illegal!

I bet the dimmer swich is melted. smell the dimmer switch. if it is burnt you will know, that it is it. If not check all fuses and check to make sure there is voltage at one of the bulbs. You will figure it out

I have checked that wire and it is burnt up. If the tail lights run off of the same wire, then what should I do? They also do not work. HELP. I don't want to get pulled over.

I figure out a solution to my tail light problems. I just spliced the wires on the tail light bulb and the headlights and ran a new wire to the bulb. My tail lights work!!! I will just put a neon tube under my gauge lights until I can figure something else out. Thanks for all the help guys...

I seem to have the same problem, except that i wasn't installing a radio.
I was working on the dash wiring, to hook up an extra gauge, when i accidently hit both + and - with my multimeter.
I heard a relay clicking in front of me the moment i saw the spark.

And now my dash lighting, fog lights and taillights don't work.
Lights in the roof and radio are working though..

I checked both the big fusebox near the battery and the fuse box by the door on the drivers side.

Are there any fuses i'm overlooking?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hehe, i found my problem..

The tail fuse was fine at a glance, but was indeed blown when i checked it with the multimeter.
