Been ripped off?

Post by chica_97220 »

Anyone else who's been ripped off by people on this site or elsewhere on the internet should go to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. They work in with the FBI and they actually get stuff done! I got a call today from the Cloquet, MN police department saying they had talked to the person who ripped me off. The liar and thief now says she'll pay my money back. The cop said if she doesn't pay, she'll be charged accordingly. That's so awesome! Justice being served! :2thumbsup:

I reported a tip to that website for something i'm going through involving fake cashiers checks to buy a vehicle & them over paying to have you pay for shipping via Western Union.

I got my e-mail back from the FBI & here it is. This is a direct copy not something I typed up.

THIS IS NOT AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE

Thank you for your submission of information via
the FBI.Gov Web site. A review of the information
you provided reveals that you may have been
approached over the Internet to participate in an
advanced fee scam. There are many variations of
the scam, but most offer to pay for an item with a
cashier's check that turns out to be fraudulent.
The victim's bank does not discover the fraud
until after the victim has forwarded money to the
perpetrator. Inasmuch as the FBI receives reports
of this type of activity on a regular basis there
is no need to forward any such additional emails
to the FBI.

You do not need to forward the emails to us.
Also, if you know that you are receiving Spam
mail, it is advisable not to open the mail because
your email address will be validated by the sender
even if you don’t reply to the email.

For your information, the Internet Tip Line (ITL)
was created on 9/11/01, in response to the
terrorist attacks upon America. We quickly
established a mechanism for the public to submit
information to the FBI via the Internet, and we
have thus far received over 1,000,000 tips from
around the globe. Our operation is completely
automated and paperless. Submitted tips are
received immediately, reviewed within minutes and
prioritized by trained Professional Support
personnel, and Agents set action leads within the
hour, as appropriate.

We encourage you to share this information with
your family, friends, and co-workers, and
encourage them to not hesitate to submit
information they may deem of interest to the FBI.
Again, thank you for taking the time to forward
this report to us.
The FBI is so full of SH*T!!!!!!! They basically blew me off.

The organization that took my complaint was not the FBI itself, it was the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. They work closely with the FBI. I got a response and they took care of my problem, but it wasn't immediate. I made the complaint in september and I just got a call this month. They do send a response right when you file a complaint, though, it is only to say that they recieved your complaint.
