Re: Dakota F*** that guy
I learnt in school that your only supposed to use AN when the next work directly after begines with a vowel. There for it would have to be Buy a mx-3 decal .... not buy AN mx-3 decal. But i'm probably horrible wrong. English wasnt my best subject at all.

Re: Dakota F*** that guy
As you said you only use "an" after a WORD that starts with a vowel. He said buy an M (which is a letter)X-3 sticker. That rule is only for words, not letters that start with vowels.

Re: Dakota F*** that guy
To me AN sounds better then A for this situation. But like T-Rose, I didnt do very good in english.
Re: Dakota F*** that guy
There are exceptions to the an before a vowel rule. Would you ever say "it's a hour from now?" And it seems most people, when saying the model of our car, say em ex three,(phonetically speaking of course).
Re: Dakota F*** that guy
acually, no matter what it sounds like the "an" rule stays in effect. but i write whatever sounds better to me though...
just my two cents...

and "you're" not your
while it would be "an" if the next word started with a vowel, because "M" is pronounced 'em' then AN is correct.

Re: Dakota F*** that guy
The 'a' or 'an' refers to the noun, not the preceding. As in 'a decal', not 'an decal', or 'an hour' not 'a hour'.
Anyway, scroll back up to the top.

Re: Dakota F*** that guy
yea we did a long time ago
the only time you use an is if it is before a letter that starts with i vowel, sometimes H because it can be silent so then the next sound would be the O.
Hey and leave that one guy alone hes from Canada. they spell there words differently. Ie: Color Colour
