Important Site Information (WAS: monthly subscription)

Post by marshmallow15 »

i know the board costs money, so i had an idea of a monthly subscription for members. like .50 to around $1 per month. id definitely pay that price with paypal. and new members who sign up get a free month and if they decide to continue to be a member, they can pay the monthly fees after their free month. what do you think?

i know there might be some conflict in this because there are hundreds of members who never post on the board or whatever, but im sure they can still browse the boards with their membership taken away. or maybe it can just be a $1 fee per month for members above 500-1000 posts? you can probably net in about $50/monthly w/ that type of plan for the cost of the board.

do you know how annoying that would be? there are tons of users, and he would have to keep up with all the payments and everything, then people would forget, then have to resign up, and it would constantly be a headache, to much to take care of.

I know that there is probably alot of paypal haters but they do offer a subscription service and I would be interested in paying if say there was a preferred member or a plus package for subscribing to it. This way the forum can remain free, but for those of us who would like a little extra ie..image hosting, better signatures, mx-3 plugs and so on. Think about it.

i got an idea, do a sign up yearly package. for like $15 to $20 a year you get to have 3 or 4 pics of your car hosted, access to a special board to post, an email news letter once a month and 2 stickers, all for a yearly price. i would probley go ahead and do that if i could. less hassle cause its a one year deal and it would bring in some money for him.

Or you give an option... for those who arnt sure if they want to stay a member, make it monthly. For those fo us who know that we will stay part of the board, a yearly fee equaling the same amount per month. Wouldn't that be a fix the constant hassel of monthly fees? Because it would only be $12 a year, and I suspect most of us would pay that for posting here.

Without this site, id be lost when it comes to car repairs. Ive saved hundreds of dollars by asking board members for advice, as opposed to mechanics. Id be more than willing to mail a yearly check for the site.

I don't think its a good idea. Just keep the "Make A Donation" activated. Because if you start charging a monthly subscription, you will lose a lot of valuable insight, not to mention a lot of the mx-3 community. All for What? .50-dollar! cmon people! If the website is too expensive to manage, just keep the technical information and get a cheaper layout!......
But I do like the registration fee concept.

My 2-cents!

Was doing some research about Honda Preludes sine my sister got one this week, and while reading around, i found out that a large site, hondaprelude.com shut down for financial reasons, cost too much money comming out of the owners pocket. PreludeOnline.com is getting the overflow and fears the worse with the extra bandwidth, so their starting a $7/year fee, which i think is quite resonable, but also you can get a initial 90-day free trial...

Its a good concept, always something to consider just-in-case

A good Idea that someone kinda touched on would be for the people with over like whatever hundred posts have to make a donation or their post record will be reset.. or something like that. IDK but i difenatly think Jeff needs to give us some insight here. Cause I know all of us love our little MX-3 community we got going on here. And I know everyone of us would be willing to that Jeff will a little green.
