Topics being closed WAY too fast!

Post by EBUCKS »

Topics are being closed faster than you can blink now. It's getting really pathetic. Our communication is getting weaker and weaker. Therefore our community is weaker too.
I know that this is Jeff's site. I understand that we can't talk about street racing. I understand that we shouldn't use profanity. But give us a break on something. For instance, one guy makes an ill advised comment and everyone jumps on him. The topic gets closed. The thread had potential until the ill advised comment.
My suggestion . . . after a few of these by the known 'ill advisor', ban his/her rude a$$, or the occurences will continue. Other than that, negativity in a thread or not, information is still what we're gathering about our cars and each other.
one

I got an idea that Ive seen on other forums, how about an anything goes forum, so people can go somewhere and talk like freakin humans! You can even put a little disclaimer "if you have strong moral convictions do not enter". that way all the sunday school boys around here dont have to go to confession" :)

Problem is, we have many people on this site that dont know how to act like a civil human being, they disgrace others, and act like they know it all. Then it becomes a battle with I know and u dont know, then turns in to your an *** and Im not. Its rediculous. Noone wants to see bickering between two people, and noone wants to be "jumped" by two or more people. If the topic is not closed, many will get upset and leave. Thats not what this site is about. This is a resource, not a chatroom. Yes general discussions do get posted, which is why the off topic forum is there. Were not trying to make the site like Disney world, more of making it so its tollerable for everyone. We get the emails/complaints, so we deal with them. Usually I personally let a topic go unless I feel its way out of line. Otherwise if I get a complaint or 2, then Its probably time to close it.
[ June 12, 2003: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]

i agree with that too, Im more talking about so called "explicit content", not that i want porn and all the lot, i just mean somewhere were we can post funny movies and cuss a bit" :p but ya the whole rival business needs to stop, we are all fellow mxer's, maybe the prob is we are a small community, but seriously some people need to get some people skills on this board.
