ATX to MTX with donor car

Post by de_sjiem »

since this is the second auto transmission to go in my car in less than 6 months, i am swtiching my auto transmission to a manual with the help of a donor car. Would it be advisable to use the computer unit from the donor car in my car? if so, where is the computer unit? thanks.

Yes.

You should get the master cylinder/resevoir, slave cylinder, pedal assembly, ECU, Engine Wiring harness, and all the shifter linkage/assembly stuff. (and the tranny... Duh)

The ECU is on the floor behind the radio/ashtray area (center dash console).

Good Luck! I have done this swap and it is fairly straight-forward.

The MTX ECU is not required. The ATX ECU will work just fine.

The only problem I have with the ATX ECU is that the "hold" light flashes even though there is no ATX to hold.

Yeah, but why not just get the right parts if you are going to do the swap?
