First drag ever

Post by Max »

well i went to the drag strip today...
first run shifting at 6800 i got 17.556. I was really dissapointed, clutch was slipping at first but then as i got a few runs in its held a little better. Well i got a few 16.6 and lower still shifting at 6800 6900... My best being a 16.277 on my last run, shifting 7300.

I dunno depends on what gear yoru in.. if you take it up high enough when you drop in into second you catch a good ride up power wise =]

Well I only did it on the last runs and the time was much better. I can shift past 7200... When i first got the car about a year and some months ago i just wanted to test the acceleration so i take up to 7000 in first and i went for 2nd gear but it did not engage and my rpm's went all the way up to 8000. I was freaking out but everything was ok...

I got my best times with the K8 shifting at 7800RPM or so....right on fuel cut.

redline on the 92-93 (at least) mx3s is set at 7k rpm and the readout being an 8k max fuel cutoff at 7800rpms. I notice on the newer ones redline starts at 6500...

get out of town!!!
just joking..umm. I thought for sure I was in a 94 automatic GS and his redline started at 6500 kinda a lighter red and then full red from 7 on...I could be (and am probably) wrong though :)

as Ive stated before mx3's can handle past redline they were meant to, and shifting later does help it seems like. It definately is better for me since I have 2.5 inch piping.

i have yet to re-run mine, but I noticed I got a faster trap speed and better time by riding out 4th instead of shifting before the 1/4 marker.
