Man, those crazy brown recluse's will do that to ya. They have the hugest leg span which is creepy as hell, and not to mentioned they are one of the most poisonous spiders in North America and will easily put you in the hospital. Death depends on your age and how your immune system is. Young child = dead. Older person about 60 or so = dead. Anywhere inbetween you'll most likely end up with a hell of a lot of pain, neasua (spelling) and a really nasty red spot on your skin which turns purple and then black because the skin around the bite dies. Yeah, their creepy *** spiders =P

Jesus that ting is big.. and yeah the recluses are small in size.. Usually smaller spiders tend to be precieved as more deadly.. you never see it when getting into bed.

Thats fake. It is a brown recluse. After looking at the pic a few times. I realized its not real. Yes, you are right, brown recluse's dont get that big, but that is a brown recluse, so that leds it to be fake right there. ALSO....if you look at its 2 most front legs, they are bent pretty well, the spider would be somewhat lifting its body up. And they seem to be shining a light in the area of the spider too, which means there would be SOMEWHAT of a shadow somewhere around its body, especially a spider that size. But there is none. ImageThere is your brown recluse. Look at the legs, they both have those long lanky legs. And the markings on the abdomen are the same too. But yeah, its a fake.

And yeah, Brian. The screw in the "enlarged" pic is a lot closer to the spider. And I doubt the spider backed up. :p

I think it could be real, I think it is a wolf spider, not a brown recluse though. Wolf spiders are creepy as hell but harmless. I've seen wolf spiders and tarantulas that big. Meanest spiders in the world are sun spiders, they aren't poisonus but they have a painful sting and are very aggressive. They are crazy looking too, they almost look like a scorpion but have huge fangs, if you don't like spiders be glad you don't live in Arizona!

that picture is not fake. i've had that same spider in my house. they are HUGE! at first we thought it was a hobo spider which are poisonous. we took it to the dept of agriculture and they called us back and said it was a housekeeping spider and that it's not poisonous.
[ April 11, 2003: Message edited by: cre8v mx3 ]

Man, that's why I left the carribean and came to freezing Toronto. I couldn't stand big a$$ spiders, crabs, lizards, snakes, scorpions, don't forget the 4" flying ****roaches, etc. meeting you at your door and telling you to get out.
one

the picture is definately real. If you look at the spots on the wall in the original picture, the spider is the right distance from them in the zoomed in picture (look at the top picture: the top, right legs have a pretty large spot between them. In the zoomed in picture, the spot is still between the legs). The second picture isn't a blow-up of the first, its a new picture where the person zoomed in on it. If you notice, the screw is at a different orientation to the camera because the camera's moved. It's just the illusion that the spider's closer to it because of perspective.
[ April 11, 2003: Message edited by: MikeX-3 ]
