Man, I feel sorry for the 56K'ers on this thread...
I got something I'm just wondering about... Why is it that people often cover up their license plate in pictures online? I mean, you drive around all day in public showing people your license plate. What makes it any different online?
I would think that the danger of someone using your plate to track you down and come steal your car would be greater on the streets than it would be online. In real life, they could just follow you or see it parked somewhere, they don't really need your license plate. But if it's pretty much public information all the time, what's the deal online? Are people scared of thieves tracking them down by their license plate # and targeting their car? I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, but has anyone ever heard of people doing this?
I mean, it's not such a big deal but I do think the masked license plates detract from the picture. It's also cool sometimes to see the plate from the state the car is from.
Just wondering, what's the deal?
[ September 28, 2002: Message edited by: voltaire ]
