dropzone's

ok i know that dropzones suck but it was a gift so i might as well use them. so far i put them in and the back didn't drop any, but the front dropped a good amount. i can fit like five fingers in between the back. anyone have the same problem? what can i do to solve this? do i need to let it settle?

have the exact same problem. They've been on for 2 months now and the back is the same height. I donno what to do.... anyone else? Please dont cut them lol

well i took my springs to a shop here in hawaii and i told them my dillema and they said they can make the springs lower my car by loweriong the spring rate and heat treating them. i was a little skeptical about this procedure because i thought they were just going to cut the spring, so i counted the amount of coils i had and told them not to cut them. they said they wouldn't. i go pick them up the next day and pick them up. they said the drop will be 2 1/4 inch drop. all coils are still there. i install them the same day and to my suprise it lowered my car the amount they said it would. i was thinking in my head that its pretty low and the ride isn't going to be all that great. i get it on the road and i was shocked to see it handle as well as it did. it felt really good. anyone know what they did? price was $125 for all four corners. not bad

??? u guys sure they're at the lowest setting? with my dropzones in, you couldnt fit 1 finger between the tires (front and rear)... awesome springs for racing lol, just gotta have the right struts for em

these are springs not coilovers. oh by the way sam. what rims do you have? are they 15's? how low can you go on 15's w/o bottoming out?

If they actually "heat treated" the springs, go back to the show with a lawyer and sue them. That's incrediably dangerous, and STUPID.

You cannot heat treat a spring to make it sit lower. Not if you want it to be safe anymore.

You'd basically be annealing your springs through a tempering process, if you heat treated your springs. Even if the shop that you took your springs to was a professional heat treater, it's hard to pin point the exact heat necessary to temper the springs exactly as you say, especially if the steel is unknown. Make sure your springs are not more brittle now, cuz then they may snap under excess shock load as the point of elasticity will have changed. Sorry for sounding technical.

I was a mechanic for 4 years and a machinist for 2 years. I also had my suspension ASE Certification and im telling you right now: If they heated your spring its not only extremely dangerous, but it is also very illegal, just like cutting out coils. If you modify anything on a spring its ruined and very dangerous. I had a friend that snapped a spring and it ripped his tire off at 65 mph and his car rolled over 4 times. GET RID OF THOSE THINGS ASAP!, seriously!!!

my friend did that to his eagle summit earlier this summer about 6-7 months ago... took an oxyacetalene torch to them at work (they don't make aftermarket springs for his car) surprisingly it worked. not saying it's safe... but he beats the crud out of that car and hasn't had any problems.

OHHH those new non-adjustable springs haha.. nm. the coilovers were tight, even tho they were race stiff. i bottomed out my struts because i went too low but if you have zx2's that will never happen. those are imo the best deal if ur going dropzones.

now about this heat thing.. that just seems wierd. i'd think it would make the springs weaker, thus leaving more room for bounciness and smacking the ground on bumps. if ur gonna lower your car, you need stiffer suspension so that kinda stuff doesnt happen

is dropzone better than stock cause i have it for months now and dont want them to put it on cause i read a lot of no good about this spring. did i just waste money?

anyone know if part #M-18000-Z2 R will work on mx3, would dropzone coilovers work with those struts too?

Maybe it'll be just fine, i'm just sayin "in my expierence" Dropzones do suck and are a waste of money( had some on my 94 Escort) but the coilovers work alrigt as long as you dont use stock struts. The rides pretty bad, but they do work

well i had my coilover dropzone springs installed for probably 3 months with my KYB's (stiff struts) and my a$$ was hurtin due to long commutes and wack highway roads... so then i used some ZX-2 struts (that part # u have there i think) and they seemed like insanely soft struts, but the pistons would go all the way down, so no matter how low you set the springs, it would never bottom out your struts. i'm pretty sure that would be a cool setup (zx2 + dropzone) right now im wishin i had those springs again, cuz u can go so low.. and it handled like friggin go-kart suspension
