225/40/18 ?

Post by HRO »

I'm thinking of buying a set of 18's, they have a set of 225/40/18 tires on them.

What modification if any to my wheel wells am I going to have to do?

Thanks

I think your biggest issue will be that they rub when steering... 225 is definitely too nuch for our car, beside this you have to check wheels' offset to be sure they won't hit yor shocks (and your bags).

Small OT:
I see your probably the only bagged MX around, is all right if I ask you some question about air ride suspensions? I am LESS then a newbie... :crying:

These rims were on a 92-95 civic before, i'm pretty sure that the civic and mx3 have the same offset.

Anybody else?

GuidoBiRiChiNo if you want to talk about air bags, PM me.

Mx3 has ET45, don`t think the Civic has that high?

Oh, and 225/40-18 will seriously mess up your speedometer.

on our standard 205/55-15 the circumference is
75 inches.

on 225/40-18 it will be 78.8 inches.
Thats way too much in my opinion.
when speedo reads 60mph, your doing 63
5.1% decrease in speedo accuracy
215/35-18 is the best bet on 18s.
also, how wide is that rim? 225/40, 7.5? 8?
wouldn`t want that on my mx..
I run 7x18, ET40, 215/35-18

on a 215/35/18 the diameter is 23.9
on a 225/40/18 the diameter is 25.1, is this enough to make that big of a difference?

A 225 vs a 215 isn't much of a difference is it?

I'm new with wheel sizing so please let me know.

Eventually i'd put 215/35/18's on the rims, but the rims are comming with 225/40/18's on them, so i'd have to stick with those tires for a while. So even if I could drive with my car jacked up for a while I would.
