Poping Rear wheel?
Poping Rear wheel?
Hey guys the other day I ran over a hole in the road doing 65mph.. It slammed hard as hell on the right side of the car. Now the right rear makes a poping sound like Pop-Pop-Pop-Pop-etc. when turn right turns, or when backing up. What could this be?
Thanks
Thanks

Well, definitely your alignment is out of wack first. The turning thing sound like a CV joint, but it is in the front. I would get all of suspention components checked out, make sure nothing is bent (links, strut shafts, rims). Also check, make sure your tires are ok, cos you might have some damage like ripped cords.

Re: Poping Rear wheel?
damaged wheel bearing if it is a constant noise while the wheel turns.
Could be CV joint, but i don't see how hitting a pothole could screw that up.

I don't see how a CV joint makes a noise from the rear of the car.Originally posted by Gro Harlem:

Re: Poping Rear wheel?
dont worry about it, just keep driving , nothing is wrong with it.
You looked under the car already and you said nothing was damaged.
Im sure if it was something important you would have taken it to a professional mechanic and had it inspected.

Re: Poping Rear wheel?
I am not real worried, its just annoying on right turns.. I was at a shop earlier today and I asked a guy what he thinks it was and he said it could be the upper strut mount.. He said it is common to dmg the upper strut mount when hitting holes in the rode.. Anyone else ever heard this? or think that this could be the problem?
Re: Poping Rear wheel?
Problem was fix by taking the spring off the strut and reinstalling.. All is good now...
