zx2 struts + H&R springs

zx2 struts + H&R springs

I just picked up a set of H&R springs and now I need to pick a set of struts. I know that my stock 130k-miles-old struts, or the kyb's or Tokico HP's wouldn't be able to handle the 1.5"/1.3" drop. And I know that zx2 struts and Mazdaspeeds (cha-ching!) can handle those springs. And I know that the zx2 struts add another 0.5" drop.<p>My question is for everyone who has the zx2 struts and H&R springs. How is your car with that suspension set-up? I'm sure it handles well but I'm really concerned about f'ing up my car on bumps/potholes/etc.

I just did Tokico's with Eibach's and sooooo far not a problem on local roads. No spring hits going over speed bumps.
pull hard,come easy. Second gear is hard at 7300

They should work fine. That's the same setup I'll be using when I get around to doing my suspension. I researched the difference between MX-3 Eibachs and H&Rs and found that the drop should be almost the same and the H&Rs are just slightly stiffer.

H&R claim 1.5" front and 1.3" rear. I would be happy with that claimed drop (with H&R) but zx2 struts add another 0.5" so I guess it would end up being ~2.0" front and ~1.8" rear. That extra 0.5" drop is what i'm worried about.

But the extra drop doesn't affect the struts because it is only a function of the strut length. It's not like you're using springs with a 2" drop.<p>Also, what drop a company claims and what the actual results are can be wildly different. From my research on and off the board the H&Rs and Eibachs don't have much of a difference in the amount they lower.

With the ZX2 set up and Eibachs I have a 3/4" drop in the front and a 1/2" drop in rear. Not much difference front stock set-up but with the progressive rated springs the handling is much better. A tremendous improvement on the turn in rate without "going over the outer tire" feel.

Don, are those the Eibachs for the ZX2 or the MX-3?

I just ordered some Eibachs from corksport.. They said that they don't make them for the Mx-3, but they make them for the Escort and those fit on the mx-3.

yes they do, protoges and escorts have the same part number mx3's have their own. its on eibach.com
