Anyone have experience with this company?

Post by 2.5mx3 »

Hey everyone,
I found a company that makes slotted and cross-drilled rotors called Sparcko. Notice this is not the same company (Sparco) that makes racing seats and pedals and stuff. They're selling sets of crossdrilled slotted rotors for $79.99 a set, which is a pretty good price compared to the KVRs from Corksport, where they're selling for $149 a set. I emailed the company and asked if they could cadium plate these, and a nice rep named Peter replied saying that they will coat the center of the rotor with high-temp paint for an extra $15/rotor.
Apparently Sparcko sells other things like mufflers and intakes, but I was wondering if any one has has dealt with them in the past.
Thanks in advance...

I know you like to trash people for making bad decisions about upgrading their car, and most of your responses have some merit. This one did not. I only put parts on my car if I know they will not endanger my safety, and I don't need some know-it-all giving me a snotty response when all I'm doing is asking about the reputation of a company.
Now, if you'd like to give me your opinion about that, feel free. Otherwise, save your slapshots for the next guy asking how many coils he can cut from his springs. Thanks.

He just acts like a smart-*** some times.
I know people who know him personally and he's a nice dude.
However, he DOES know craploads of suspension setups (among other things) and tests them out in Auto-X, so give him some respect.
~A

Yeah, it was a bit uncalled for. Last week was pretty stressful with school and such, sorry about that.

My opinion...ive never heard of them, and wouldnt buy stuff from them. I'd find a brembo dealer and get rotors from them. Brembo = best in the business.

I'd just had a fight with my gf the night before, and to make things worse I had to work Saturday morning. So, I was a little high strung myself. ;)

quote:
My opinion...ive never heard of them, and wouldnt buy stuff from them. Quality of the metal, improper cross-drilling/slotting? I actually have Brembo X-drilled on all four corners right now, but siezed calipers in the rear have worn them improperly. I'd asked about getting together a group buy for some Brembo rotors recently (Barry), and hopefully that'll gain some steam as summer approaches.
[ April 13, 2003: Message edited by: 2.5mx3 ]
[ April 13, 2003: Message edited by: 2.5mx3 ]
[ April 13, 2003: Message edited by: 2.5mx3 ]

I have read stuff about sparkco on the protegemp3.com board. They sell spark plug wires for the MP3 and Protege5's that they claim INCREASES horsepower...which is utter bull****.
I wouldn't buy from them. If they lie to their customers, why support them? their rotors are probably garbage.
Definitely look into getting brembos. I have a pair of brembo cross-drilleds in the front and they have yet to warp, or f' up in any way. Definitely great rotors.
I bought some OEM replacements for my sisters protege and installed them, and they friggin warped after 4k miles.
I drive my car hard and have yet to have any problems with pulsating or any abnormalities. that is worth the extra money you spend if you ask me!!!
