Lowering springs, gas shocks?

Lowering springs, gas shocks?
If I bought gas shocks, would that lower my mx3 any?

the shocks don't support the weight of the car - the springs to that. All the shocks are for is to dampen the energy in the springs when you hit a bump so that your car doesn't bounce around. If you ever take apart a strut, you'll notice that you can move the shock all the way in or out by hand - just not quickly.
