Stock Strut travel?

Post by wgale »

Wha-sup guys,
Has anyone ever measured how much travel the stock struts have, for a 92MX3 V6. I need to know if I need to buy new struts if I get lowering springs. I just bought the car and the previous owner just put in new struts (all four) a month before she sold it to me, so I don't want to replace them if I don't have to.
Thanks

you *should* get new struts if you get lowering springs, because im pretty sure that the previous owner didnt get good quality higher performance shocks. They arent going to be able to dampen higher rate spring rates, and you'll get a bouncy ride that doesnt handle well.

thanks, but I was already aware of that. I just need to know how much extra travel the shocks have, so I can ensure that it will not bottom out.

all struts for the MX-3 that are available right now are the EXACT same length, so it doesnt matter in terms of travel. But if you lower it more than 1.5", you will really have issues with cornering on the bumpstops.
