URGENT HELP Stolen Keys

Post by MikeUK »

My car keys have been stolen from my house. The door was open and they must have been quick.

What do you do if your keys are lost or stolen?

What are my options?

Please I need to get this sorted fast.
Thankyou in advance.

Im sure u can goto mazda and have one made.
If not, you can get a VIN # off of a dash of a wrecked car, remove the locks, swap them with yours, and have a key made from that VIN.

Get an alarm system? Not sure, but best idea is to make sure those keys wont work period, or without something making a really loud noise.

Go to a mazda dealer (tow) and request a lock change due to the keys being stolen. you will have to have the ownership papers too.

get keyless entry and shave locks/handles then only your remote opener would open your car.

wtf?? Mazda doesn't need any proof of anything.

You can simply buy a new "keyset" for $50 (dunno how many pounds it'd be in UK) which includes 2 black awesome keys, 1 valet key, a new ignition key cylinder mechanism, both door keyhole thingys and the rear hatchback keyhole thingy that are made for that key.

A pain to install, but not too bad if you know what you are doing. Did this on a Protege I bought with no keys.

As for getting into your car....thats up to you. When I lock myself out of my car, I just smash the window. Windows are a dime a dozen around here and common to find at junkyards. Its like $15 for a replacement. cheaper than paying $80+ for a locksmith to come and screw up your window mechanism using one of those jimmy's.

Sorry I forgot to mention I had a spare key. I was just wanting to know how to stop the thieving git from simply driving my car away.

Unless you shave the hatch locks too...

Actually, if they wanted it bad enough, they would just bust the window, hop in, & start her up.

I dunno about carrying a gun at least I dont. But yeah if you look in your yellow pages and find a locksmith that does automotive (some dont want the hassle) they can rekey every lock on your car including the ignition. This isnt cheap however and will cost you quite a chunk of change. And if you were to go to a locksmith for a key usually they ask to see the ownership and a picture ID. If someone gives the excuse "my ownership is in the car, they ususally open the car to get the ownership, if they cant produce it the locksmith just locks it back up and says "have a nice day"
