Weird A/F ratio reading.....

Post by cjthor »

Just installed an autometer a/f ratio gauge. After a quick drive i noticed the gauge is all over the place. going from the extreme lean condition to semi rich. Has anyone had this problem? I just installed a new 02 sensor and reinstalled a new stock FPR since my old one took a crap. I have a turbocharged mx3 by the way ;)

it's normal..when your car is not at WOT your injectors are in a open loop and the ecu is trying to correct the mixture all the time..your a/f always bouce lean/rich(or stoich)..but when you go WOT your injectors are in close loop and you get a precise a/f reading

Thanks. So it looking like its turning off and then going rich again is normal. The only time I get a steady reading is WOT correct?
