dist. heat?

Post by goldsberry1 »

on my turbo pipes i have like 1/8" clearance between the turbo exhaust and the dist. and around the same for the starter solinoid. will it hurt anything if these get a little bit of extra heat from the turbo? i am useing a external coil for the ignition so thats not a worry. i willbe useing a heat wrap from work to help protect things from as much heat as possible. but i know some will get through. so will the heat hurt them? thanks.

Wow 1/8" eh? Mine gets about that close to the starter and clutch line but not disty. I used header wrap to keep the heat down. Definately do that.

PGT guys have reported warping disty caps from too much heat from turbo pipes, leaving them unexpectedly stranded somewhere.

Just wrap those pipes real good and if you have to, make a heat shield.

i can get some heat wrap stuff from work. we use it on the jet engines so it might work on the turbine. we'll see what happens. my down pipe looks like crap. there was no room for it anywhere so i ran it between the head pipe and the block. it barely fits there. its really close to everythingwith the water to air intercooler in there its all very tight. so i hope i can control the heat some in there.
