Turbov6 1.8?

Post by hgallegos915 »

Is it worth turboing the v6 1.8 ? I dont want to do the engine swap yet but Id like a bit more power. If I coul get it to at least 150 or 160 hp I would be happy.

go an espend less money and purchase a KL and you will obtain what you whant on natural aspirated engine that won`t give you any trouble fitting in your engine bay.

You can put a basic turbo system (no bells and whistles) in your car for around $650-$800. A KLZE will cost you upwards of $1500-$2000 unless you can do the installation yourself. If you can install it, it will still be around $1000. A KL03 engine will give you 164HP and will cost about $500+ for the engine plus installation. The more reliable of the two would be the engine swap, but if you know how to weld, a turbo system is the way to go. More adjustable than an N/A engine. Can produce over 220HP, (KL03 164, KLZE 185-195) and gives you the bragging rights of owning an aftermarket turbo car. If you go ahead and turbocharge your car, and decide later on that you want more power, everything from the turbo system will fit on the KL03 and the KLZE engine. Just swap the engine then, and instead of having 190Hp, you can have upwards of 300HP with the torque to back it up.

Advantage: Turbo

Or you can do the best of both worlds and do a turbo KLZE. :)
