WENT TO DYNO!!!!

Post by Franko »

I am quite delighted. A dyno was brought in from nova scotia and I went on it today. I was running the 93 mx3 ecu with an safc 2 and a bpt with the mx-3 throttle body on it. I made 160 horsepower to the wheels and 165 ft/lbs torque.. I wasent going for max power though this was just to tune it right for daily driving and fuel economy. Later I may up the boost but as of right now the car is faster than most things here so I am happy with what I have. I made more power than a couple of mustangs so :D

I'm sooo angry!! I haven't been able to figure out the wiring for installing a SAFC in a GS MX-3. I've installed them on many other cars, and I just can't get anywhere. Any help?!

Best thing to do is get a wiring diagram and start tracing wires.

If you search on the F.I. Forum as "S/afc installation v6" sure it will appear

Why did you use the MX3 throttle body instead of the BPT one?

It is kind of confusing but the mx-3's throttle position sensor is not variable either 0 or 100% and is 3 wire and the bpt/protege tps is variable and is 4 wire. At first I didnt know what to do about this. I couldent really wire it in to the protege one because the mx-3 ecu is not really supposed to get a variable throttle positon sensor so I didnt know how that would affect things. Then the brillant idea just came to me. Switch the entire thottle body, Since it is impossible to switch the sensor because they attach differently. The mx-3 throttle body is slightly smaller inside and I thought this would make a big difference but it didnt. I had it on the dyno and I lost no power and the mx-3 harness pluged right in. According to mazda it shouldent work at all but I proved them wrong. I asked them if I could switch the throttle body and they said "Absloutely not.. the car wont run" Heh guess I showed them..

I am an engineer and I go thru that crap all the time with other engineers. Some of these guys lack ingenuity and stuck on their stupid theories. I was just asking because I thought the same. But it does not matter since I have the BPT ecu. Good for you that you are able to get positive results after.
