custom downpipe idea...

Post by Shady469 »

i'm thinking about making a true down pipe (not just one to replace the lower portion back) and was wondering what design would flow the best. I don't have big bucks for a bigger turbo and it seems that the stock cast peice simply doesnt flow enough for more than a 35 shot. and even if i went with the CS VJ-14 upgrade later on this DP would help out.
i like this design:

but it could also be done like this:

let me know what you guys think.

The first one would be my choice. The seperate path for the wastegate is an ideal setup, and it looks like the length of the that wastegate downpipe offers significant gains.

It may be a good idea to place a small flex pipe in there for thermal expansion as well.
