turbo kl-ze
ok i am probly going to be swapping a kl-ze in my 93 gs and i was wondering what kinda turbo i should add to it if i should just add a twin turbo kit or if that would even be posible or just put a single turbo say a t3/t4 hybrid the thing is is i want to be able to waste alot of cars around here so im just wondering <P>i would be much apreciated for any replies to my ?<P>peace

The T3/T4 hybrid turbo would be fine for the KLZE. The KLZE can only handle around 6-8PSI with stock internals. There is alot of info on this board about it. If you have any other questions, just ask and we'll answer. Good luck on your turbo setup.

well thank you guys for your help i just have one ? i am probly going to upgrade the internals and the fuel system definatly but i hear alot about the ze isnt a very good engine to turbo cuz of its high compression but i have found some low compression heads for the ze and was wondering if i should order them or if it would even be worth it and if i were to use the TT setup what would be a good size turbo to use because im taking out my air conditioning in my car so i will have more room and i was also thinjing of puttin a top moutn intercooler in there and just getting the ram air hood that fx designs offers im not to smart with turbo setups but thats why im posting this is to maybe get some help thanks

ok i have a ? i have been thinkin of doing that but if i left the compresion alone and added the TT setup to the ze got intake and exhasut and upgraded the internals and fuel system and got it chipped or got the de and TT setup and internals and intake exhaust and chip which engine would i get better results out of

if u only did a simple search you would find the answer... from what i know and have heard the higher compression engine will always win out in the end when it comes to forced induction... in my opinion though it would be quite hard to get a TT ZE setup to run effectively and efficiently because you would have to really know how to tune the engine to such a specific range it would be neer impossible... if it was my money i would go with a larger single on the ZE but also take into consideration that on the ZE due to its higher compression it will also be innevitably harder to tune but if it is tuned properly then in the endit will have more power than the DE with the exact setup, so the moral of the story is to find a really good mech. for whatever you decide in the end.<P><BR>PS: USE THE SEARCH ICON AT THE TOP NEXT TIME<BR>

Well man, gotta agree with Shaun. If you are going to lower compression then just get the US KLDE (KL03) engine. It is easier to find and will cost about 1/4 to 1/2 the price. I wouldn't suggest a TT setup only because, as stated earlier, it is harder to tune a twin turbo. You said you don't know alot of the specifics of turbocharging, so what I would do is go to your local book store and buy "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It helps ALOT. It's nice to see another Utah MXer. Welcome to the board.

hey i have another ? last one i promise ok say i got the ze and just slapped a t3/t4 hybrid on it with a stand alone and i got it runnin correctly with no flaws with 8 psi then i upgraded the internals and the fuel sytem and ignition system then how much do you think id be able to run he boost at i have decided not to do the TT setup i dont even know why i suggested it i guess i was just getting greedy or somethin but anyway if you guys could answer my ? i would be much appreciated

well you could run as much hp as you want, but the tranny cant hold over ~300 so you will have to get a custom built lsd transmission, go read the forced induction section on probetalk but please dont ask any questions because they will kill you

true, but then again the internals on the ZE are fine WITHOUT lowering compression. So if you are going to lower compression you might as well just buy the KL03.
