Re: 90-94 GTX Computer
Sorry, buyer backed out, it's back up for sale again. Working on a new supplier locally, my old supplier said he is getting me motors on a constant basis soon... we'll see how that goes.
Re: 90-94 GTX Computer
with the ecu, Airflow meter and Harness can u swap in the bpt into a 93 sohc with no problems

Re: 90-94 GTX Computer
I believe the swap is easier in the 1.8 models but I haven't heard that it's not possible to put it in the 1.6 model. This harness will run the motor, you will need to splice in some wires on the dash harness to maintain the tach and some of the other gauges. You may need to upgrade some components if your motor did not come with them.... (i.e. 4 wire tps)etc...

The 1.6 however will need what the 1.8 came with in order to complete a swap in a simple fashion.
If you didn't know the 1.8L DOHC (escort or protege) Automatic Tranny Throttle body with TPS is the exact same thing as a GTX. These are fairly easy to source in the US.
Once again, your SOHC wiring gets replaced by the GTX wiring loom. Your dash wiring will be retained and spliced. Your largest problem is not wiring or tps issues, it is finding the drivetrain from a 1.8 DOHC and getting that installed.

Re: 90-94 GTX Computer
i was told it's because the bell housing is shaped diff. on the v6 g-series gearboxes than the 4cyl versions.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Re: 90-94 GTX Computer
And you would be correct Ashley. Braden, they have different bell housings. I should know. We had 2 Protege trannies and David's MX-3 tranny sitting next to each other about 3 months ago.
If you want to put a 4 cylidner in a GS, you also need a new cross member, motor mounts, bunch of other stuff.
And if you have a GS, get a KL-ZE. Its a better compromise IMO.
