Re: please help!!!
Those cars have about 200 to 210+ hp (not sure about torque)... i body of mine has one at school and THEY GO! (throws you in your seat REALLY fast when he taps the gas) its a completely different class of car... even if you had a GS you would be lucky to have 30 cars length on him.
Those things are fast! (like WRX fast
)
All the power to you man! Good Luck!

Re: please help!!!
well if you do get the bpt hes still going to beat you unless you do some modifications to it. cause the bpt will net you only 180 hp and probly around 165 tq. plus another reason hes going to beat you is the fact that his is awd. if he knows how to drive he'll get the jump on you and then take off. but if you do some mods to the bpt you should at least get some heads turned. not sure on there times but find out what the 1/8th mile is on the 2002 v6 firebird and mustang (man trans). compare it to his and see. with the bpt you can beat those cars cause i do it all the time (at the track
) havent gotten to race the awd talon or gsx yet. if i do ill let you know.

Re: please help!!!
What you need to beat him.
4 cylinder: big turbo, intercooler, high flow intake and exhaust, and slicks.
6 cylinder: KL-ZE, supercharger or turbo or Nitrous Oxide, high flow intake and exhaust, and slicks.
The 95 AWD 5 speed talon has 210 HP at 6000rpm and 214 LBS of torque at 3000 rpm
Plus it has all wheel drive

This means it hauls a--. With just a small increase in boost and a good exhaust it could be pushing 240 hp at the engine .

The KL-ZE has 195-200 hp. Add nitrous and some very sticky tires and you should be able to beat him.

78 Vettes aren't the pinnacle of V8 performance...
Standard 2G AWD DSM is around mid 14's to low 15's in stock trim. From a roll the AWD's are slower, cause they're over 3000#. So if you drop 250bhp in a 2500# MX-3, it's gonna be a good race from a roll.

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

Yur right, the Talon has 210HP and 214TQ, but it's alos ~680lbs heavier. (stats from www.edmunds.com)The ZE swap alone should make it a pretty fair race (adv. Talon). The turbo or SC would take the talons a-- and kick it. The intake and exhaust would put the advantage on the MX-3's side and the tires would help in both counts. No need to spend upwards of $4000 just to beat him.
I take it you have the RS trim becuz you are pondering the BPT swap. If you tuned the BPT I'm sure you could squeeze 185-190BHP out of it. Then with the same mods (intake/exhaust) you got him. Remember he's got 210HP but he's a hell of alot heavier and he's AWD so it will loose more of that HP and TQ putting it to the ground. Spend $2000 and you've got a kick a-- car that will get a lot of respect.
[ June 03, 2002: Message edited by: VizualXTC ]
