Different Intake Manifold on the B6T?

Post by Shady469 »

I think im gonna go with the B6T swap after all. The only prob is that i dont want to have to cut a hole in my hood. so my q. is ; are there any intake manifolds out there that will fit where the throttle body is on the side and not the top?
thanx in advance

You could swap to the MX-3 1.6 DOHC head and IM.

The MX-3 head is well designed and suited for FI applications, I think the biggest difference may be in the valves. The cams are different but you can always swap the B6T cams to the MX-3 head. As far as other manifolds go you really don't have many options. You can use the miata manifold but it makes the throttle body point to the passenger side shock tower. If you want a better idea of what it looks like, check out Cam's B6T Festiva. I don't think the Espec manifold would solve the hood scoop issue. All the B6 cylinder heads share many of the same characteristics, there are just minor differences. I would also strongly suggest buying the Mazdaspeed motor mounts and filling them with 90A Shore Polyurethane filler. The B6T packs so much torque that my motor moves 2-3" under hard acceleration. This causes a problem with the hood scoop, I actually shaved the manifold so that it wouldn't rub.
