painting gauge bezel?

Post by MarkMoore »

has anyone painted their gauge bezel? how'd it turn out? any pics? i'm guessing you just use the same painting process you would w/ painting any other interior piece? i guess you had to carefully tape off the little glowing turn signal arrows? any thoughts?........

Yes the same painting process. No you don't need to tape off the turn signals they just pop out of the bezel. I painted my dash parts with silver. Looks awesome.

I like it better than the white guages on the black bezel. I'm at work right now so I can't post a pic, but as soon as I get a chance I will post some.

Hope this helps.

WOW, i really like that silver!
I found this stuff at a local shop that has bits of silver metal in it, and its pretty reflective.... I was going to paint my dash with that, but now that i see your dash, i think i wanna go the same route you did...

What paint is that?
Did you sand at all?
How many coats/clear coats did you use?

That shiz looks smoooooth like glass :D

The paint I bought at my local hardware store it is a metallic silver. I used no primer or clear coat. All I did was wear plastic gloves & cleaned my parts with rubbing alcohol & a sponge. If you have an air compressor blow them off it helps. Do not touch the part with your bare hands you will have trouble with the paint.

I just cleaned the parts let them dry then just sprayed them with silver in many light coats. Don't hurry or it will look like crap. I had the quick dry paint so I could do a coat every 15 minutes.

Taking apart the speedometer & dash is a very easy task. I think anyone could do it.

If you would like a small removal & install sheet I could type one up.

If you have anymore questions e-mail me at yttaf1@hotmail.com

Good Luck
