Dummy Switch Air/fuel gauge bulk buy, maybe!
Dummy Switch Air/fuel gauge bulk buy, maybe!
****EDIT**** Sorry guys I should have mentioned this orginally, if you are interested please post in this thread.
OK guys and gals, I am in the process of getting a company to make a air/fuel gauge for one of our dummy switches.
Here is how it works, they basically make an Air/fuel gauge that looks stock. It fits right into one of the dummy switches in our dash board.
You may be asking yourself why you would need one of these. The reason being is that these gauges fit right into a spot on the dash board that is not being used and is going to waste currently. Thus letting all of us get a better grip of whats going on,as far as our cars are concerned. Also with this type of gauge it saves space on your a-pillar gauge pods, letting you get an extra gauge to monitor your cars vital stats.
Here is a pic: http://www.duostyling.com/pagerecord.cfm?ID=1
I would like to state that I am in no way a memeber or employee of Duostyling. I had just happened to come along a bulk buy of these gauges going on in the Corrado forums and I thought it would be a nice feature for our cars. Also I have not recieved permission from Jeff for any bulk buy as this is to measure interest. I am aware of all bulk buy rules, i think, and I will follow them if and when a bulk buy begins.

how will we know we won't be getting an a/f ratio gauge made from radioshack parts? you can make those kinds of gauges from radioshack for only $20 worth of parts. any other pics of their work?

The reason that I approached this company was because they have a good rep within the VW community.
here is a thread they have on vwvortex.com : http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1107449

Looks like an interesting mod. If you end up with a group buy, i might be interested.

what would the cost be, I might be interested.
Re: Dummy Switch Air/fuel gauge bulk buy, maybe!
im in depends on price and more info plz!
Re: Dummy Switch Air/fuel gauge bulk buy, maybe!
about the price of a autometer gauge, 50 dollars maybe a little more or less. They will let me know after they get my dummy switch, to tool on.
Im glad there is some interest, hopefully we can get enough people to get a bulk buy rate on them.
thanks

I might be interested too but where would this guage mount to exactly? We don't really have any blank switches on the dash that would be feasible for something like this, and there aren't many places in the gauge cluster to put them either, unless you removed the CEL/Brake/seatbelt warning light panels

Wil,
Hows it going? It depends,I and I believe you do too have a 93 or older mx-3.The flatter dash style. The gauge could fit into the empty spot right across from the cig lighter and just above the ash tray or the empty spot inbetween the dimmer switch or that other button (cant remember what it is right now). The good thing about these switches is that they are being made specifically for our cars, its going to be the same exact dimensions of the dummy switch.
thanks.

i might be intrested i need some more info on it thou...like is that the final look of the a/f guage is there other design possablites..where exactly can you mount it...and i dont think you be able to get a good reading cause the the dummy switch looks kind of small to actually get a reading. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Dummy Switch Air/fuel gauge bulk buy, maybe!
Yo what about mounting it in the panel right below the engine light. My car doesn't have any lights there, although I think maybe teh "hold" and ABS lights are installed there, but who needs those anyways?!
It would go nicely in the gauge cluster, covering the 3 light "pods" under the CEL.

Wil,
I like that idea, do you mind if a I take this pic and email to duostyling? Im pretty sure that if we did place it there it would have to completly replace that side of the cluster. We would have to figure something out for the check engine light. But then again if we have a full set of engine monitoring gauges, we would be able to tell if something is wrong anyways.
Ill approach them (duostyling) about this on monday.
