Post by your2slow »

Hey all, anyone install these in there mx3? I've got a pair and wanted to know if the install was easy or going to need a lot of custom instalation done. If anyone has installed them could you post pics. I'd love to see what they look like in our cars. Thanks.

Wedge Metal Fabricators
Address: 2031 E Cherry Industrial Cir, Long Beach, CA 90805
Phone: (562) 633-1663

they make seat bracket adapters for nearly any car. they allow you to bolt in aftermarket seats without any headaches. Normally $165 a pair shipped i think.

they bolt up to the sliders that come with the new seats. they ask for the vehicle make, model, and year and brand of aftermarket seats.

I've gotten brackets from them twice for my car. I currently have these seats in my car

they are corbeau vx2000 in 100% leather with fiberglass seatbacks painted sunburst orange to match my car.

I don't believe they have a site or e-mail. They are the manufacturers of brackets for sparco, corbeau, cobra, recaro, tenzo, and more

Wrong.
Not every racing seat is the same.

NO as easy as this. The APC seats are 13.5 inch's in width (from slider to slider that is). Our car stock seats are 16 from slider to slider. Not that easy at all or else. But thanks for all the replys. I'm still looking for any pics of the APC seats if anyone has them

thin about what you are saying. The seats are a foot and an inch wide.... please god tell me you are wider than that... and what happens when you have ZERO comfort while driving.

Bad idea bro, get a wider seat. Tenzos are 16" wide, so are the generics off ebay. Fit perfectly with only minimal drilling.... Check out my Cardomain and you will see my racing seat install.

He said its 13.5" from slider to slider, i dont think thats the actually width of the seat itself. I had the exact same problem with the sparco's i had, its very difficult to modify them to fit, u cant just drill new holes and add spacers, u would need custom sliders. Easier to just get some seats like the TenzoR's that basicly bolt right in with little modification or try to contact the company that Craig has posted about.

I missed the part about the rails being 13.5"... my bad

or you could do what a bunch of other guys have done...

You could take a square piece of steel, drill out the stock mounting holes and bolt it to the stock mounting locations. Remove the steel plate and drill out the holes for the racing seats and bolt them up.

Now you have a bracket that works with your stock mounting points. However, you will need spacers to level off the seats and they will sit approximately 3/8" higher than stock.

if the steel is thick enough, the bolts are threaded correctly and everything is tight and clean, this method is very safe to use... and it will cost you about 30 bucks US.

Or you could get custom brackets made for about 200 and then pay to have them shipped to your house...

whatever :driver:

This is exactly what i was going to do with the sparco's, until i decided i didnt even want Sparco's and leaned more towards the Corbeau which are like the TenzoR's (easy install).
However my Corbeau's arent installed yet and now that i have more then enough money to waste ive been thinking about getting custom brackets made for safe smooth installation.
