Is FX really all that bad?

Post by mb3k »

I've been reading archived posts about the quality of FX's combat fronts and I hear they crack easily. I've been very interested in this bumper for a while now.
When installed, is the bumper way lower than the stock bumper (with front air dam) or does it have the same clearance?
Also how do you fit the bumper so it's flush with the hood?

The first problem with the FX front bumper is that it's about 2-4cm to wide. You might think that just pulling it in would fix it but it doesn't. The bend in front of it is still wide and that flexing pressure you put on it will eventually cause stress lines in your paint. There are lots of other makers that make kits very similar to the Combat FX. Personally I'd go with that. I have the installation on my personal mx-3 page that shows how I managed to suck in the extra width of the FX bumper.

i got a question about this too.. well, about side skirts actually. i'm lookin at those combat sides (or any style like that), and was wondering how low they go.. and if they would match up with a stock GS lip's ground clearance. if they lines match up, i'm keepin the front stock. :p just curious thanx

I have an fx combat front and i agree with everybody else....THEY SUCK!!!!! Mines been cracked 2 times. (stress cracked i mean)Same with the back. I've had the same trouble with the combat back, but i figured it was because of the fiberglass. Man, I WANT URETHANE!!!! :crying:

Well I'm also planning on getting the VSX rear and Combat side skirts.
Any bad news about the VSX or the Combat Sides before I invest?

Anybody have luck with the Onderground combat front?
