Altezzas on Ebay

Post by gueedo »

Is it just me or are the prices of altezzas going up on ebay? 2 months ago they were on there for $150 or you could use the buy it now function and pay like $158. Now the cheapest one you can get on there is $195 and the only other one being sold by the SAME company that has sold all of them on there is $245 with a "buy it now" of $248. You think X3Racing is ripping us off at all?

From my experience I would not buy from them again. After somewhat slow shipping originally, they sent me 2 left side taillights. I emailed them immediately and they were slow getting back to me. They said I should send one back and they will send me the right one (literally). I said fine, I would send them out the day but I didn't appreciate having to pay shipping on something that was their mistake. A week later I get an email saying that they would email me an electronic UPS tag for it (which I received 2 days after this email). I responded back saying that I'd sent it out when I said I would and so it was long since gone and they should be receiving it any time. Two weeks later I still hadn't received the correct light, a phone call, or an email. So I track down their number and call them. They have no record of ever receiving it. The lady said that she'd check into it and call me that afternoon. The next day having not heard back from her I called in again. She said that she found it out in the warehouse and that the replacement would be sent out shortly. A week and a half later I finally received the right side taillight. Of course in this time it had decided to rain and I found out that the left side that I'd ended up keeping (I already had it on the car before I realized they'd sent 2 lefts) leaks. Not only that but the new right side doesn't match the other one...it has a completely clear lense where the old one has black around the outer edge on the inside. At this point I'm not going to deal with them again and eventually I'll replace them with a functioning matched set from Corksport.

Maybe they're trying to find out the top price that people will pay for them and then they'll set future auctions to that price

Nope supply doesnt stay the same, its going down. I called on mine since one of the lens is starting to bubble, they said they would send me a new one but I'd have to pay for shipping. The point of the story is this; They told me once they got more in they could send one out, but they had no plans of getting anymore from the manufacturer in the near future.

When the manufacturer/supplier increases the costs of the distributor it has to be passed down to the consumer. Thats what is happening in this case. All these altezza's are coming from the same place. That place is what controls the price, not the distributors (xracing, etc.)

But the distributor is more responsible for the high mark up than the Manufacturer. Like on Ebay, some sellers try to decoy buyers by selling products at their wholesale price, but charge double the shipping to make up for it, basically luring you to buy and not telling you till after about the shipping. Distributors has that 200+ mark up, don't ya love em.

Dang I guess I should count myself lucky then, because I got a pair of these for $150 and I have not had a single problem with them.
