MX34u2nve: BMW lights do not blind, neither Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, VW (talking about new cars here). Why? ECE lighting standards are stringent. Not that they come to N.America with E-code lights, but they do inherit the better parts of them. In Europe, alighnment of lights is a regular procedure, and most know to do it after even changing a lightbulb. Won't pass annual MOT inspection if you are blinding others. Just wish it would be here as well.

i dunno about that when i drive by some newer bmw suv's or whatever. I am forced to squint when they are driving towards me, and i assume they have htere highbeams on so i flash my lights at them and then i get it EVEN BRIGHT LIGHTS THERE ACUTAL HIGH BEAMS and my eyes start to water. and there's an overdramatized story on my opinion on headlights. but this really has nothing to do with this thread

The light output is MANY many times less, and the colour difference is way off as well - they're more yellow.
~A

.....But, here is something to think about.
If you put those Sylvania Siverstar bulbs in the Hella 90mm projectors - the ones for this light pod - you would have phenominal results.
The projectors themselves are amazing already, but those bulbs would give them a little extra performance.
~A

actually the light is really yellow at all. that would be your cover being dirty. mine are white and give me a lot better vision. everyone who rised with me has noticed it. and as far as the sylvania in the projectors, yes they are grand, my friend has them in in gsr and wow, a lot brighter than mine. the are so white too, i thought mine were white but his are just amaziiing. i hope to see these lights devloped! ive been talking to custommx3 on aim a lot and i think just about everyday im like how they commin! is gonna be awsome to see em in our car. ill try and get a pic to show the diff between stock and the silverstars soon.

With European market Osram/Sylvania Silverstars you will get even better results. Philips Vision Plus is suggested though over Silverstars. If we are running H9's in those 90mm units, which hopefully be the choice, as they are DOT legal, you are at about 1850lm. Suggest to run wiring harness with relays with the set-up, that way you could place slightly overwattage bulbs. I know Osram makes 65w H7's, so that would be a choice if H7's are chosen. H9 standard is already 65w, so may be there are some at 80w or so. Good thing 90mm housing is magnesium with aluminum reflector and glass lens, will not melt. Just hope that the new lights will withstand.

The housing isnt too bad, but I love the lights. Definately look into those. As for BMW's, Mercs, Audi's and everything else having really bright lights. Yes, I cant stand them, I'll be driving down the road and some BWM is driving in the opposite lane and his lights are white as snow and hurts my eyes to look straight. So I flash and I get something even brighter!!! And I cant stand it when their behind me either. You dont need your lights to be that bright, yeah it looks good on a nice luxury cars, but they can lower the wattage a bit or something. Its crazy that car company's get away with making lights that bright. But yeah, I cant wait to see what Barry has instore for us =)

There is something a little different (sorry about the quality of the picture though) I borrowed the lights from an Aston Martin DB7, just to see what two big lights would look like. The inner light would make a good turn signal, and the outer one would be the high/low beam, and have clear plastic or glass covering everything. Another option is to make whatever is black, white (in this case). I am thinking of trying the same Photoshop with some Ferrari F50 lights, but it may not look that different when done. However, I don't have the cash to buy a set, I just thought I would throw in an idea. If you really want to, Angel Eyes would not look out of place here.

This is possible, but I dont see a point in putting a signal In the headlights themselves. We already have a side marker and a corner blinker.
What do u guys think.
[ May 01, 2003: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]

The inner lights could be used for anything really I guess - there are some bumpers that don't have room for front turn signals (Kaveh's for example) or the car could be converted to a four lamp hi/low beam system. The lights themselves will be vertical, and set back in the housing, and the clear plastic/glass is the same shape as the OEM lights.
