17" vs 18"
what would you all recomend i like the idea of 18 but i dont know what is better and a less pain in the *** .. i am just lookin for oppinions of people who have 17 or 18 on their MX ... Pics would be cool to
Thanx
Re: 17" vs 18"
With 17's you have more of an option for tires. And upon replacing tires, it seems that dealers keep more in stock than the 18's. 17's are becoming a common rim, therefore the prices are pretty good compared to 18's for both tire and rim.
one

Also, with 18's, more weight on the wheels = less power to the ground. Another thing to consider is that 18's will bend very easily.

Some manufactures are better than others though, my TSW's seem to be kind of soft.

Well, memphis has some crappy weather, hot to instant cold and back again overnight. The potholes just pop-up ( or should I say pop-in )
Sux, especially how expensive rims are.

Re: 17" vs 18"
I've had 17's on my V6 for about a year now , they only rub on complete full lock when turning and they look great in the big Mx-3 arches.
I'm running a 40mm drop as well which is probably the best thing I've done as far as modifying goes, handles much better and if you don't you'll have a beach buggy look goin on.

Re: 17" vs 18"
I got 17s with 1 inch drop eibach pro kit. must say it looks sweet. but it does rub if you turn you wheel all the way. I dunno about you guys, but I've had to replace my cv boots enough times b/c of my 17s
Re: 17" vs 18"
I also have a set of TSW's 17's. I had Nitto tires and every time I hit a pothole, my rim would bend and my tire would produce a bubble on the side wall. I replaced my tires with Falkens and now I hit the deepest potholes with no problem. I have them for over a year now and drive them daily here in NYC.
later,

Re: 17" vs 18"
Not many people really answered his question. What is better 17 or 18? I'm getting rims in about a month and I'm curious. If both rims run the risk of being bent why not just go with 18 cuz they look better.
Do 18's look much better than the 17?

If you love something let if go, if it comes back to you it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was.
