Tail lights, tint, paint, or vinyl?
Tail lights, tint, paint, or vinyl?
Today's payday, so i want to do something cheap yet effective for my tail lights. I have a friend who painted his red and they look ok. But i want to go with black. Any suggestions on what i should use?

I would do vynil, its cheap, and realtivley simple.
I have a how-to on my website.
make sure you get 3M vinyl, the GOOD stuff, get it at a sign shop.

Do they sell a transparent vinyl? I'm not sure if the solid color would look good on my blue car. unless they could match the color perfectly, you know!?

black maybe would, color matching may be difficult, ut the clear may be more expensice. What would be the point, its clear?
Re: Tail lights, tint, paint, or vinyl?
Silly, not clear. more like tint, you know... see through black

Just my opinion, but don't do that! it looks like ur tryin to get the altezza look , but ur too cheap! looks like altezza or supra tail wannabe's!
Just do the all red look, looks alot better i thiNK!
Just paint the amber red on the tails....looks cool, but like i said in the beginning, its just my opinion......u do what u want!
later and good luck with whatever u choose!
[ August 22, 2002: Message edited by: DVH ]

Re: Tail lights, tint, paint, or vinyl?
I just finished. I didn't want to do vinyl because it isn't see through. And I couldn't do tint because tint doesn't stick to plastic. So I went with pin stripes. I know you're all thinking that it would look stupid. But it actually looks really good. I got the idea from my boyfriends GTI (vw), because his tail lights came like that factory. I just got a pinstripe from an auto store ($4.20) with 4 lines rather than one. Cleaned the lights really well and applied, I think I'm gonna seal it with something, i'm not sure what yet. As soon as i get batteries for the digital, i'll post some pics.(also pics of my dyed interior)
