Anyone break a gauge needle installing indiglo

Post by SmokyMcGee »

I broke my gas gauge needle installing my indiglos.. Maneuvering the indiglo over the gauge was ridiculous. I took my time.. and still ended up breaking a needle. Has this happened to anyone? The little metal stem snapped. How can I fix this?

actually, when installing my speedhut reverse gauges, it was too hard to have them screwed into the cluster that i took off each needle to finish the job. the rpm and speedo needle was easy to put back on, but it's a b---- trying to put on the temp and fuel needles...i STILL have them on crooked today and am too lazy to fix it!

Ok I got a way to do them if you think your going to brake them
Do every thing the same the tack and speedo are eazy the problem everyones having it the temp gas and clock combo
this is what I did, turn the guage cluster around you will see 3 screws for the fuel gauge and 3 for the temp undo them and the gauge will come out, now you dont have to worrie about the clock, you now grab the 2 gauges by the bottom round parts, sqeeze them together a bit and you will see the old gauge will flex a bit and you can slide the new gauge over eazily, then get a small screw driver and remove the screws holding down the gauage face one at a time slide over the shaft of the clock put the 6 screws back and your done
ps. what did you guys do with your clocks did you know the the cover over it is tinted yellow and the LEDS are really blue if you replace the cover with a clear or tinted cover it will be blue

I bought a new gauge cluster, I broke the gas needle bad... but i didnt break my temp gauge. If you want I'll sell you the temp gauge you can just take out the needle and backing and switch it on to yours.

I didnt switch the needles, I switched the whole circle peice with the two gauges(gas/temp) .. now i have left over is my old circle peice with a broken gas gauge..but the temp is all in good shape. In Jeff abrams site he says that you have to heat the glue under the needle so you can pull it off by using two spoons to lift it evenly. Did you break the shaft it is on..or the needle from the base of it? If its the shaft...then I would say buy another gauge cluster cuz I snapped the shaft off the gas one and tried fixing it for 3 hours till i said screw it.

I popped the gas needle off putting the face on. I didn't break it so I put the needle back on. Now the gauge doesn't work. :(

yea same thing here as pelado. the needles didn't break or anything. they're all intact, they just won't go back into the hole. the needle that i took off has the little metal rod connected to it.

well they wouldn't fit, even if i sanded the needles...so i pulled them off...not break them...and put them in that way. i had to take out the stock gauge to fit the other one in because the one i ordered were made for a gs, but i have an rs....the only real difference is the size of the stock gauge.
