on/off switch for interior

my friend gave me an on/off switch with 3 plugs in the back...he said one for the + wire, one for the - wire, and one for the light in the switch or power supply...i think...and i'm planning to attach a 6" string neon and two 9" neon tubes to this. my question is if i can do this by plugging one tube into the cigarette adapter for the power source, wiring the string neon to the neon tube wiring, then wiring the second tube neon to the string neon and sealing the wires with electrical tape? would that work? <BR>if it does, do i wire the + wire from tube a to the + wire for tube b and vice versa for the - wire? thanks for the help!

splice the wires and elctrical tape em together then hide em bbehind your pillars. i have 5 15" red neons runing off one wire. skip the cigarette lighter (since it looks cheesy) and run the power straight from your fuse box. looks real nice i have the same kind of switches and i all four are mounted inside my center console. (one for inside neon, outside neon, headlight strobes, and fog lights) and it looks sweet. much better than plugging it into lighter sockets

Hey Codene. I just bought a black light with a cigarrette lighter plug at the end. could I just cut off the lighter adapter and run this to the fuse box? do I need to run a certain wire to the + and - or can it be either?

Also, you would run the + wire to the fuse box, and the - wire can ground on either the metal frame of the car, or any - wire running near by.

thanks XTC. I am going to try that out when we get some nice weather. is there an easy way to power this light to come on when I turn on my head lights?

I would just go with an iluminating rocker switch and mount it on/under your dash, console, or maybe in your glove box. You can splice into the cigarette lighter recepticle and it will give you power only when the ignition is on (I believe) if so, it will make it so you can't leave it on and run down your battery. Just some ideas. Hope it helps a bit.

Hope it helps a bit.</STRONG><HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P><BR>visualxtc...my friend suggested this idea too. i checked behind the lighter, and i saw two red wires connected to a light bulbs which i figured didn't have to be worked one, then i found a blue wire and two black wires wrapped in electrical tape connected to the lighter. how do i know which is positive and which is negative? can i just connect my other wiring to those wires and seal them with electrical tape?
