Custom Grill Help Please, Anyone???

Post by simo711 »

Okay, I am really wanting to make a custom grill for my car. I need steps to do this and what type of paint I can use. I have seen many people's sites with the grills, but still don't know what to do to well. Let me know guys/gals, Chris
------------------
Mazda MX-3, Black, Automatic, 1994 Base Model V4

i recently did this with my 92 GS and this is what i did.
1) removed front bumper
2) cut out the center deflector thing with a hack saw blade (works better with just the blade)
3) sanded the rough spots with a dremel
4) went to Lowes and bought two gutter guard screens with hinges
5) went to automotive store and bought on small can of my colored paint, a can of clear coat, and some body filler.
6) used the body filler on the sides that i cut out and sanded smooth once dried
7) painted the sides with the body filler then used the clear coat.
8) cut one of the screens to fit the small top hole and replace the stock plastic piece
with the screen.
9) trim the sides of the other screen and use the four hinges to clip on the top of the bottem hole and use some twist ties for the bottom part
10) put your bumper back on your car

If you need any help or have any questions feel free to ask.
