Re: Tube on the front of the front valve cover
IIRC i does about the same thing as the pcv...it sucks oil fumes from the rear and front valve covers and put it in your intake again by vacuum

Re: Tube on the front of the front valve cover
if it ain't there...I would guess it's not that bad if you don't plug it...does the rear valve cover has one?..I saw on some other cars that some v6 had only one tube coming from one or the other valve cover..not the 2..
so if you have 1 working it should be ok..
but hey that's just guess

Re: Tube on the front of the front valve cover
I read about this on ProbeTalk.
On 95 (not positive on that year) and below K series motors, there are 2 tubes (one on each valve cover) that come together in that black plastic "T" fitting and then go to the black rubber intake hose. They get their fresh air from here. The PCV valve hose is sucking this fresh air after it goes down through the crank case and comes back up mixing with blow-by and vapors. In other words, fresh air goes in through the T fitting, through the 2 hoses, down the engine's oiling system, and eventually gets sucked up through the PCV valve...
That's how it's supposed to work. But since the PCV is so close to the front pipe, it really doesn't get to suck in any vapor/air that went through the rear bank...
So, 96 and up motors were made without the front pipe. That way the fresh air has to go the rear down through the whole motor's oil system and back up through the PCV...
So, if you have one without the front pipe, it's actually an improvement. Some people with 95- engines even plug the front one. You'll just have to either get 1 longer hose to replace the 2 pieces going from the rear valve cover to the rubber intake hose, or replace the T fitting with a regular 1-inlet/1-outlet fitting.

Re: Tube on the front of the front valve cover
what would happen if you plugged both right off, i put a cai in my car and it didnt have the nipple for inlet which allows the oil back into the intake manifold so i just sealed the t part between the front and rear but if they are pretty much useless what would happen. im guessing nothing but just want to know.
