Bobbels in coolant water

Post by kenped8 »

When putting new coolant-water in my new engine i saw small air bobbels in the water on the fiiler neck on engine. There is no leak`s. Maybe it just cirkulating it`s hard too see the difference. Is this normaly?

Not necessarily. He was filling it at the time. Air is trapped in the system when you refill, and that's where it comes out. Sometimes takes a few days for it all to work through to the filler, which is why you may have to add a bit after a while.

Agree with Ian. Bubbling can mean a blown head gasket but usually the symptom is more severe than described by kenped8. i.e., coolant would actually appear to be bubbling with some force behind it and in a case of a badly blown headgasket, will forcefully "bubble" right out the top of the radiator filler neck. kenped8's case sounds like normal trapped air in the cooling system making it's way "to the top" as it's displaced by fresh coolant as it circulates/fills the system.

if it was a blown head gasket..youd have water bubbles in your oil or oil in the coolant :p
those bubbles are normal...of course its gonna bubble a bit...theres air inside when you have no water in there..
