rattles and creaks

Hi

I am not sure where to post this os i will try here. I have recently noticed that on bumpy roads and rough roads my rear od the interior of the car rattles like mad and i here a loud creaking sound from my hatch. Has anyone had this and solved it? Can the car be tightened up?

mine does that. in my case, itsa combination of a bad strut and a bent rim. also a thin brake pad can be the culprid.

put electrical tape around the U shaped connector that locks when you close the hatch, thats what squeaks

interesting. My car makes creaking sounds in the rear when I go over defined bumps at lower speeds. It also does it when I take long corners when going on the highway...basically when I shift the weight of the car from one side to the other.

I always thought it was my strutmounts, but maybe it is the hatch??? Anyone shed some light on this topic? that link you referred to is 3 years old & doesn't explain much

Our cars are all 10-13 years old. What'd you expect. Some of the creaks you might be able to track down and remedy with new bushings or sound deadening or insulating trim panels from hitting other panels. Some noises you'll just have to accept.

My rear hatch used to rattle a lot too--drove me crazy! Check the catch for the hatch lock, it is adjustable. I moved mine down a little, effectively tighting the connection, and the problem was solved. Good luck. Those rattles can be annoying as hell.

mine was always rattling from the plastic pieces in the hatch, but i glued them together with some autobody stuff. worked great. i just hope i dont need to remove the pieces lol.

My hatch used to squeak like hell, too. I did the same thing Chasing_Size did (only with duct tape) just wrap some around that U piece on the under side of the hatch and it dissappears... thank God I seriously felt like screaming sometimes.

Thanks for the replies. I used electrical tape on the u thing and the squeaking has gone. I also replaced the passenger rear speaker cover and now the rattle has decreased a lot.
