yet another "what engine do I have" question

Post by Flying Low »

First off, Hello everyone!

Secondly, I'm about 99% sure I'm going to be buying a 93 MX-3 GS with a v6 engine, and a 5 speed transmission, the problem is I don't know what V6 it is and I dont know how i could tell because i don't know Mazda's well at all. People I've talked to said "well its probably the 2.5 thats in the probe" but then when I weant to www.kbb.com, the only v6 it listed for that model was a 1.8 litre v6. So i'm just wondering who's right.

Anyway, if you guys could tell me some way i could see what size engine it is let me know. I havent looked in the engine bay yet because the car is being worked on by the dealership, but I don't know if it says on the valve covers anywhere.

thanks a ton!

Easiest way .. the head numbers, look between the intake runners.

ok cool, i might be able to test drive it today because when I drove by, it looked like they were working on it, so hopefully it will be done today. They said whenever it came to a stop that it sounded like it wanted to die, and sometimes it would. They're putting in a new fuel filter, alternator, battery, but they also think that a vacuum line came unattached or somthing so they're going to try that. This car looks like **** because all the paint is falling off, and theres little rust spots, but it could definately be awesome if it's painted. REALLY hoping I get it!
