Poor Fuel Consumption
Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
Valoncan,
That's 28 mpg (UK), which is a reasonable average. Mine is 30, but Ontario is colder than Surrey
Matt,
Another thing worth checking is the Water Thermosensor (ECT aka EGI). PM me with your email if you want a scan of the data. Or just change it.

Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
I think every one is forgetting how much it costs us brtis in fuel. Over in Canada and the US they pay nothing compared to us. Our TAXs are stupidly high compared to over there. You lucky buggers.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
It cost about £30 (GB) for 40 litres thats...
$54 US
$73 Canada
Now you can see why it hurts so much!...
Good news is though i got 25.29mpg this week, thats 2 up on last week. The only difference is that i have now fitted a piper cross induction kit, and have been driving around much quicker!... i expected top get even lower consumption, but hey... im not complaining.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
Holy crap. What do you guys pay per liter of gas?
Here it's about on average .75 cents per liter or about $30.00 cnd for a tank.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
Based on the exchange rate, I think you might actually pay less than Las Vegas. I paid $24 U.S. to fill up yesterday. On regular F'ing unleaded, 87 octane.Originally posted by jpwmx3:

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
Here we pay around 77 pence per liter. That works out at $5.30 for a US gallon. To fill my car up from the orange light it takes around £32GPB or $59USD.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
On a tank a couple of weeks ago, my KLZE got 28.3mpg on premium gas....about 95% highway driving.
Last tank was 26.4 in 80% highway driving.
the K8 should get better than this if everythign is working properly.

As Jeremy said, the tank capacity is 50l, but the useable capacity (what you can get out before the pump stops delivering) is 45l.Originally posted by bradmx32003:

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
since the mx3 uses the same unibody as the protege, it might be feasible to swap the mx3 tank out for a protege 55L tank (14.8 us gal.). I liked how big the tank was in my pro..i could go almost 400 miles on a tank with my 1.8 BP which got about 28 on the highway. I dunno if it would fit w/the shorter legnth of the MX3 or not, but it might be worth taking a look into.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
Thats only one more gallon than the MX-3 tank.
The MX-3 Gas tank holds 13.8 Gallons... Although no one would never believe that. The most I ever put in mine was 12.5 and thats after I almost ran her dry.

Re: Poor Fuel Consumption
My sensor must be goofy then. Even after driving for an extra 50 miles after my low light fuel started coming on, I still couldn't get 11 full gallons in.Originally posted by atlantamx3:
