KFZE ITEMS GROUP BUY???

Post by Mnemonic »

Ok guys, im in negotiation with 2 companies for parts custom fabricated for the kfze engine what items?

Stainless Steel Valves
Titanium Valve Springs
And Copper Head Gaskets

im just curious if any other kfze guys are intrested in ordering some?
prices are gonna run around 450 for the Valves, about 180 for the Head gaskets and im still debating the price for the valve springs. Im still ordering these even with out a group buy, just wanted to see if anyone wanted to jump on board so you dont have to go with the aggravation later on, on finding parts

All copper head gaskets are thicker then the stock ones so they will make your compression ratio slightly lower. If your going to build an engine that uses a copper head gaskets I would recommend getting the heads and block o-ringed. Also these valves your trying to get made will also work for the K8 guys since they are the same heads. As for retainers they are all the same for any of the K-series engines.

I assume your building an engine for Forced Induction, so the copper head gasket would be a good idea, and stainless valves might on the exhaust side. But your not really going to need retainers unless you plan on running some wild cam where your running at high rpms. With all this your looking at $3k for an engine before you start building the turbo.

i say more around 1500-2k since the valves and the gaskets are costing me 300 under a grand, i know that the stock retainers will work fine unless i really go insane, but the titanium valve springs are a semi good idea, for one i doubt a k series engine besides the one thats got like 700hp would even need them. The main reason for the head gaskets wasnt to lower the compression, but the will last alot longer specially considering they were made for higher HP cars, and the fact they lower compression isnt a bad thing either he he he, and actually, to be technically correct, the K8 uses Kf valves, atleast thats how the parts are labeled he he he

I'm sorry I thought you said titanium retainers not valve springs. Why would you need those? I've never heard of valve spring failure. For $150 you can get a set of stiffer valve spring but again unless your reving like crazy valve float won't be an issue.

well i talked to the guy, and yes your right, we would never need them, but he also informed me that there is more to it then jsut a stronger metal, its also lighter, and with reducing weight within the engine internally you can actually see improved power (sounded like bs to me) but im not even sure yet if the Titanium springs are a go yet, xmas is killing me
